Deleting Own Hub to Increase Profile Hub Score?
Background: Most experienced hubbers believe it is better to improve upon poor performing hubs or to leave them alone, as opposed to deleting them.
Our question: If the hub doesn’t quite seem to fit into the portfolio for one reason or another, is it better to delete it anyway?
The answer: Marisa Wright, thanks for replying: “Website Examiner, the vast majority of your readers never see your work as a whole…”
Our conclusion: Better not delete your hubs except if your really, really must. (Even then, why not unpublish, then you can republish in case you change your mind).
Can traffic fluctuations this extreme be real?
Our question: “A new account with approximately 15 hubs attracted about 1000 page views during late November until Christmas, with up to 100 page views per day. Since then, traffic has dropped to almost zero. Own page views do register, and there is a sole visitor here and there - that's it, for about 3 weeks. How can this be, even taking into account the holiday season?”
The answer: Nelle Hoxie pointed out that such fluctuations are only to be expected as a result of the holiday shopping season, at least with what she considers to be a very small portfolio of merely 15 hubs.
Our conclusion: The jury is still out on that one. The holiday season is far behind us, yet traffic for the account in question never has regained its former traffic levels. Strange...
Is hubpages a blog?
O.P.'s question: “I just got a traffic from blogcatlog.com and began to wonder how it happened as never promoted my hub in that site. Can anybody give an explanation?”
Our answer: Running a search on that particular site shows that it has lots of information and links regarding HubPages.
Our conclusion: There is more information and discussion about HubPages out on the open internet than most hubbers may even be aware of.
Reasons for leaving HubPages
Website Examiner started this new thread in the Hubber’s Hangout forum, and so far it stretches over 7 pages and 125 posts. Read it here, if you haven't already. If you have already read it, read it again.
Our question: I have spent quite a bit of time lately reading through various forums where the imminent departure of one Hubber or another was being discussed. Many people have been leaving recently, it seems, including several prominent ones. But why? Oftentimes, these discussions imply a lot of insider knowledge, which as a newcomer I simply do not have.
It would be particularly helpful to understand the most common reasons for people leaving HubPages. Any ideas on how to address such problems in the future are also welcome.
Answers: Too numerous to list here, please read the thread.
Our conclusion: The jury is still out on this one. Most people who leave HubPages probably do so for personal reasons such as disappointment about the financial outcome or changed life circumstances. But as far as those who left because they were banned or extremely frustrated with HubPages – especially the forums – the picture is not so clear. Some believe that the forums can be an unwelcoming place, mildly speaking, and serious authors may have given up because of that. Others believe that such authors are being too melodramatic by creating a circus atmosphere around themselves on the forums, exaggerating their own importance to the community and so forth.
Multiple Hub Identities?
Our first comment: “It was already supposed to be permanent, that's why I don't quite get it. Maybe some members are just too valuable to actually let go?”
Our second comment: “…I have to admit that I'm having difficulties when it seems that rules are not consistently enforced. If there is no transparency and equality, it is difficult to figure out what is going on.”
Our conclusion: Apparently, some permanently banned hubbers had their IP addresses blocked, whereas others have been able to keep posting in the forums quite openly by using one or several new user accounts. Isn’t that unfair and unprofessional? Quite strange, really…

Will Google approve an application from the owner of a disabled account?
Our comment: The short answer is, unfortunately, that once you have been banned it is nearly impossible. One person gets one chance only, and it doesn't matter what site you apply from. Just search the forums for things like "adsense disabled" or "adsense class action," then you will see how many times this has been discussed, and the answer always seems to be the same. Below is the link to one such discussion, try to read it to the end.
If you suspect plagiarism, what's the best course of action?
Our comment: “I protect all my own works and feel strongly about this as well. However, I have come to understand that the problem you are describing is so widespread - thousands of hubs are copied, probably - that it would seem safe to assume that most online publishers are aware of the risks involved. And there are many tools available to them to detect duplicate materials online. Thus, I do not see any moral obligation on you. On the other hand, you have every right to report it if you so wish, there are no legitimate concerns for the Hubber. The HubPages team will investigate and make their own decision, and if the Hubber feels unfairly treated he or she can explain why the material was not unlawfully duplicated.”
A hubber asked: “I don't know how to protect hubpages content.”
Our comment: “This you can do by registering with www.myfreecopyright.com. Give them your feed available from your author profile, then they will regularly check for new articles and automatically protect them. A digital fingerprint is created for each article, a confirmation email message sent to you for verification purposes.”

I utilized myfreecopyright.com and e-mailed many, many hubbers about this site thank you for bringing it to our attention.
2nd: Multiple Hub Identities
There are many with multiple identities however a hubber who is banned based on my knowledge cannot utilize a second account. If they are caught which normally they are by another hubber, then they are banned for a longer period of time. If they are allowed to come back and the commit another offense then they can be permanently banned from the forums. There are those who were rude, badgered, harassed, taunted another hubber or a new hubber on the threads Hubpages does not tolerate any of it they are expecting professionalism, debatable or just simple fun threads. Hubbers will come and go often they will come back with another profile name where others suspect they are gone, when they are not. I have been here almost three years, having observed the growth of hubpages there are a few changes including rules that other hubbers have suggested that have been implemented. When the new rule was rolled out on the forums that badgering, bullying etc. would not be allowed a few hubbers were offended however when Paul Deeds own father stepped out of line he was placed on a 3 day ban so if many believe that there is unequal treatment on hubpages there definitely is not. All of us should act professional on the forums and if any of us step out of line we should respect the 3 day ban if it is found that we were not respecting another person's comment, thought, feeling or emotion.
I would personally recommend this site to others, in fact I have for many it is a stepping stone and for others we are just simply enjoying our community, watching and enjoying hubpages grow.:)
Truly excellent info. Rated up here, there, and everywhere.

Yes, some aspects Of HP are mysterious, but you will find this to be the case on most writing sites. But all things considered, HP is better than most with some really great people to help you if needed.
